James Katzenberger

I began studying the guitar as a child growing up in the Roaring Fork Valley. Since that time, I have focused my playing in the classical guitar genre after playing blues and rock, fingerstyle country blues and jazz.

I studied at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, earning a BA in Music. There I focused my studies on composition, guitar and lute performance.

Furthering my studies in music, I earned a Master of Music Degree (MMus) in Guitar Performance from the University of Memphis under the tutelage of Dr. Lily Afshar.

Now I reside in Carbondale, Colorado and have established a studio at The Launchpad - a studio space for the arts.

I offer private lessons locally from Rifle, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Willits, mid-valley, Woody Creek, Snowmass, and Aspen, Colorado.
